Machinery and Equipament

The machinery and equipment sector

The machinery and equipment sector is one of the pillars of national industry, responsible for supplying the modernization and technological advancements of critical segments — agriculture, automotive, rail, mining, energy, and civil construction. In Brazil, this market is driven by the demand for the renovation/construction of industrial parks, the expansion of infrastructure projects, and the need to gain productivity and competitiveness for export.

This context brings specific challenges: reduced availability times, stringent certification requirements, the need for integration with automation systems and Industry 4.0, and pressure for more environmentally efficient solutions. Consequently, machines and equipment require engineering solutions with a high degree of innovation, durability, and operational efficiency—especially in components subject to wear, fatigue, and corrosion—which can only be achieved through processes and materials designed for continuous operation under severe conditions.

These operating conditions cause critical components to be subjected to high loads, repetitive cycles, impacts, vibration, particle abrasion, corrosion exposure, and intense thermal variations—conditions that accelerate wear, increase friction, reduce energy efficiency, and anticipate fatigue failures. Furthermore, increasing integration with automation and control systems demands dimensional stability and consistent surface performance over long operating intervals. This set of requirements makes the application of advanced surface engineering solutions indispensable, capable of increasing resistance to wear, corrosion, and fatigue, reducing friction, and extending the service life of components.

It is in the face of these challenges that HEF positions itself as a strategic partner in the supply of surface engineering technologies applied to critical components of mechanical systems. Among the most prominent solutions in our portfolio are the CLIN™ nitrocarburizing technologies — ARCOR®, SURSULF®, TENIFER® and QPQ® — and PVD/PACVD deposition coatings, such as CERTESS® CARBON (DLC) and CERTESS® NITRO. These technologies significantly increase resistance to wear, corrosion and surface fatigue, in addition to enabling higher working pressures, reduced friction, component downsizing, increased performance and the replacement of environmentally unfavorable solutions, such as hard chrome plating.
